College Board's AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award

Congratulations to SVHS which has earned the College Board's AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for attaining female student representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) for 2019! Only 818 schools out of 20,000 institutions that offer AP courses, have earned the award. SVHS was one of only 639 schools to be recognized for achieving this important result in the category of AP CSP.

This honor acknowledges the outstanding work the school is doing to engage more female students in computer science.  Google reported in 2014 that women are more likely to pursue careers in computer science if they are able to explore the field in high school.  This is extremely important to ensure gender equality in high-paying technology jobs as well as to facilitate the ongoing and extensive need for innovation, creativity, and competition in the global marketplace.
