Mrs. Leanne Moyer, middle school paraprofessional, has been creating a mural in the middle school library for the last several years. The artistic journey in the middle school library began in 2018 when she started painting what is now referred to as the “Biography Wall”, which includes paintings of historical figures that the middle school students are taught about in their curriculum. Examples of paintings on the biography wall include Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, and many more.
The Biography Wall was finished in 2019 and Mrs. Moyer began a new mural that showcases characters and scenes from books popular with students. Titles included in this mural include "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", "Harry Potter", "The Invention of Hugo Cabret", and much more.
This is not the first mural that Mrs. Moyer completed at SV. Before working on the middle school library, she completed murals in the elementary school library and the middle school cafeteria. Mrs. Moyer says that the murals are meant to inspire students to want to read and they are paintings from books that they enjoy. This is her gift to the children and the community, and it also provides her with a large canvas to develop her artistic skills.
Below are some photos of the mural in the middle school library. Thank you, Mrs. Moyer, for dedicating your time to creating this wonderful art for our students and staff to enjoy!
