I like to summarize my approach to teaching in three words: experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm. I bring a rich and varied background to Schuylkill Valley High School. Born in Pennsylvania, a six-year stint as a Marine brat in San Diego, and a return to the megalopolis of Northern Berks have given me a wealth of personal experience that I bring to Schuylkill Valley. A graduate of Reading High School and Kutztown University, with a stop at Penn State in between, and a veteran of the Reading and Tulpehocken school districts, I have come to appreciate all that Berks County has to offer. Now in my 30th year of teaching and 18th at SVSD, I am currently serving as the district Instructional coach for grades 5-12, helping the teachers and students of SVMS and SVHS effectively utilize Chromebooks and related classroom tech.
I also serve as the advisor for Academic Challenge, World Affairs Club/Model UN, and the SVHS Ski and Snowboard Club. I co-advise the HS TV Studio and its ArTV (Around The Valley) daily broadcast. Check out those links over on the left <-- In my spare time I ride my mountain bike, travel, hike, and ride my snowboard (weather permitting).
