Transportation
The Schuylkill Valley School District encompasses Bern, Centre, and Ontelaunee Townships and the boroughs of Centerport and Leesport. The district provides transportation to and from school for students within a two-mile radius of district boundaries based on the student's home address.
The provision for specialized transportation for students with disabilities is directed by services memorialized in a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). Transportation to nonpublic schools is also provided to school district residents per state law and guidelines.
Bus Stops
Students are entitled to a morning and afternoon bus stop. The morning bus stop can be different than the afternoon bus stop, for daycare purposes, but both of the stops shall be the same location for five days a week.
To prioritize the safety and welfare of all students, as well as the efficiency of our established routes, all students are expected to board and exit district transportation at their assigned stops per the Sapphire Community Portal, our student management system. Requests to accommodate changes to assigned bus stops, temporarily or otherwise, can be made. However, parents/guardians must submit these requests in writing in advance to Stephanie Wolfe, Transportation Secretary.
