I like to summarize my approach to teaching in three words: experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm.  I bring a rich and varied background to Schuylkill Valley High School.  Born in Pennsylvania, a six year stint as a Marine brat in San Diego, and a return to the megalopolis of Northern Berks have given me a wealth of personal experience that I bring to my classes.  A graduate of Reading High School and Kutztown University, with a stop at Penn State in between, and a veteran of the Reading and Tulpehocken school districts, I have come to appreciate all that Berks County has to offer.  In my 27th year of teaching and 16th at SV, I have successfully combined my passions for teaching, travel, and culture to bring the world to my students.  As a teacher of World Cultures and AP World History I enthusiastically expose SV students to the big world around them. I am also very excited to teach AP Psychology. Instilling an appreciation and understanding of diverse ways of life is something that I thoroughly enjoy.  I try to further this mission by advising the SV World Affairs club.  In my current role of Instructional Technology Coach for grades 5-12 I get to embark on a new challenge of helping teachers and students effectively utilize Chromebooks in our 1:1 initiative.
In my spare time I ride my mountain bike, travel, hike, watch my children play soccer and run track, and ride my snowboard (weather permitting).  I am the SVHS Ski and Snowboard Club advisor which I enjoy immensely.
