    Math - tools for life!

I am in my fouteenth year of teaching as a member of the science department here at Schuylkill Valley High School.  I am in my 28th year of teaching.  Fourteen of those years were spent at Muhlenberg High School in suburban Reading, PA.  I have taught nearly every math course and a variety of physics courses over my career.  I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in Physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with my Master's Degree in Mathematics coming from Shippensburg University.

I am currently teaching Academic Physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, Electronics and  Honors Algebra 2.  Due to my science background, I tend to focus on the usefulness of the math we learn.  While not shying away from theory, I believe it is important for the students to see math as a tool to be used in any number of ways.

I am also the faculty advisor for the LEO Club here at SVHS.  This is a club dedicated to community service sponsored by the Central Berks and Bern Lions Clubs.  The club typically has 40-60 active members with countless hours of community service.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching sports, volunteering with the LEO Club, hiking, biking, camping, and any other excuses to be outside with nature.
