Mr. Ronald Miller
A graduate of Schuylkill Valley School District, Mr. Ronald Miller was involved with track and cross country as both an athlete and coach. He led the Panthers to a Section Two Cross Country title in 1974 with an 8-0 record.
Mr. Miller holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, both in Elementary Education, from Kutztown State University. He was a science teacher for 34 years, five of those at Ontelaunee Elementary and 29 years at Schuylkill Valley Middle School.
Recognized by the Schuylkill Valley School Board, Mr. Miller was chosen for the PSMSA Breakfast of Champions Conference. He was also selected Outstanding Young Educator by the Leesport Jaycees.
For more than 60 years, Mr. Miller was a member of The Marauders, a band of five Schuylkill Valley classmates that played dances and provided music for the community as well as Berks and surrounding counties. He was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Neversink Forest #32, which sponsors children with Muscular Dystrophy. As a lifetime member of the Rajah Temple String Band, Mr. Miller played parades and concerts as far as Atlantic City and Virginia Beach to raise money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and was a bass player for the Saint Michaelaires church group.
Mr. Miller is a sponsor of the Ronald L. Miller Science Award for graduating Schuylkill Valley students. His wife and children are all SV graduates. He also has four grandchildren, one of whom is an SV graduate, and another is a current student.
