Dr. Solomon Lausch
Dr. Solomon Lausch was the superintendent of Schuylkill Valley School District from 1997-2012. During this time, he implemented full-day kindergarten, block scheduling for grades 6th through 8th in reading and mathematics, and required a computer course for ninth grade. He conducted research on the correlation of Suzuki String Instruction on academic achievement, reconfigured grade alignment, and updated personnel services by adding a human resources coordinator position. Dr. Lausch oversaw renovation projects at the middle and high schools, as well as at the maintenance facility, administration building, and stadium/track.
Dr. Lausch served on the Board of Directors for the Schuylkill Valley Community Library, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, World Affairs Council of Greater Reading, and the United Way. He was also Executive Director of Berks Business Education Coalition.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Lausch received High School Principal of the Year, 1982, by the Greater Baltimore Committee; the Business and Education Partnership Award,1996; the Outstanding Superintendent Award, 2011, by PAMusic Educators; and the President’s Award for Exceptional Service to the Community, 2015, by RACC. He was also amember of the Baltimore City College Hall of Fame in 1994.
Additionally, Dr. Lausch has been a teacher and administrator in Baltimore city schools and Superintendent of Hanover School District. He even taught English as a Second Language during his time with the Peace Corps.
