Dear Schuylkill Valley Community,
I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Schuylkill Valley High School as its Principal! Previously serving as a HS Math teacher (including here 20 years ago before my children were born) and an administrator in several capacities, I look forward to blending my previous successful educational experiences in Berks and Schuylkill Counties to this high achieving team. I have enjoyed learning about the District from Mr. Mitchell, Mrs. Kelchner and other administrators, School Board members, and teachers during zoom meetings, interviews, social media, and more. I listened to the beautiful vocalists online, been in awe of the virtual art show masterpieces, admired the literary pieces in the Epiphany, and read about athletic accolades, including Marlee Rickert’s state gold medals for swimming. It is evident that Schuylkill Valley students have benefitted from the support of their families in conjunction with the faculty and staff who take pride in inspiring them to take on challenges in academics, athletics, and the arts!
Like all educators, I am slightly outside of my comfort zone under the current circumstances since I prioritize relationship building and visibility. As I learn about the school community, I will share SVHS information and accomplishments through our Facebook page www.facebook.com/SchuylkillValleyHighSchool to promote engagement beyond our school walls. Please send any news my way and encourage others to like and tag the page as well as share our posts to broadly communicate high school achievements and events using #pantherswithpurpose.
I enthusiastically await meeting all of you – stay safe and healthy!
Sarah Yoder, Ed.D.
High School Principal
