The
Schuylkill Valley School District is located in northern Berks County
in southeastern
Pennsylvania,
the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The
district lies in the valley created by the Blue Mountains to the north
and the Schuylkill River to the south and encompasses approximately
53 square
miles that includes the municipalities of Bern, Centre, and Ontelaunee Townships
and the boroughs of Leesport and Centerport. The district is both rural
and suburban, including farmland as well as business and light industry.
The Schuylkill Valley School District campus is located at the intersection
of Routes 61 and 73, 1 mile south of Leesport and 6 miles north of Reading.
The district’s
school buildings include the Schuylkill Valley Elementary Center, serving grades K-5;
the Schuylkill Valley Middle School, serving grades 6-8; and the Schuylkill
Valley High School,
serving grades 9-12. District enrollment is approximately 2,030 students.
District staff consists of 13.5 administrators, 149.5 teachers, and 79 full-time
and 23 part-time support staff.
