Sign-ups have begun for the 2008 fall sports season!

On Thursday, June 5, Schuylkill Valley School District will be holding fall sports physicals in the high school training room. Physicals will begin at 6:00 pm and will be conducted according to the following schedule:

6:00 – 6:20 pm Students entering Grade 7
6:20 – 6:40 pm Students entering Grade 8
6:40 – 7:00 pm Students entering Grade 9
7:00 – 7:20 pm Students entering Grade 10
7:20 – 7:40 pm Students entering Grade 11
7:40 Students entering Grade 12

Students should arrive promptly at their designated times. Doors will close at 7:40 pm

To register for physicals and a fall athletic teams, a student should complete and return a PIAA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form which must be signed by a parent/guardian and the student. High school students should return the form to the athletic office and middle school students should return the forms to the main office at the middle school. These forms are available in the respective offices as well as online at www.schuylkillvalley.org/athletics. By PIAA rule, students must receive a physical after June 1 of each year so all students planning to play a fall sports are encouraged to receive a free physical at the school on June 5. In addition, students should turn in their Pre-Participation Forms so they are registered on a team. This will allow coaches to send out information to their team over the summer.

Our team physician, Dr. Thomas Kohl of Comprehensive Athletic Treatment Center (CATC) will also offer physicals prior to the start of the winter and spring seasons as well, even though the PIAA now allows all physicals to be completed after June 1. These physicals will be provided for students who do not play a fall sports. Dates for these exams will be set closer to this time based on post-season tournaments and other school activities taking place in October and February.

Any current 6th graders or students coming out for a sport for the first time are encouraged to check this link for more information about the athletic program.
